Everyone by law must complete a fire risk assessment for their business. If your business has 5 or more people it’s also necessary to keep a written record of your fire risk assessment on file.

The Risk Assessment must be completed by a “competent person” this is defined as:

A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. The level of competence required will depend on the complexity of the situation and the particular help you need.
